On Saturday 9th September, SHS hosted seven other schools for an Under 11 football tournament at Almshouse Lane. The grounds looked magnificent and there was a very high quality of football on display with some wonderful goals being scored. Shrewsbury House played well in the group stage and progressed through to the semi-final of the competition where we lost to a strong Rokeby side and ended up finishing 3rd in the tournament. Many congratulations to Parkside, who were eventual winners of the trophy. It was a fantastic morning of football and a really good way to get some competitive matches in at the start of the season.
The 1st team were also competing and travelled to Hoe Bridge last Saturday to compete in their 6-a-side tournament. The boys started well playing some very good football. They beat both Barrow Hills (3-0) and Hoe Bridge B (2-0) and drew with Milbourne Lodge (0-0). This meant they topped the group and played Danes Hill in the semi-final. The boys could not quite get their tempo going and unfortunately went down 0-2. They did bounce back well however, and beat Hoe Bridge A (1-0) in the 3rd and 4th play-off.
Well done to all the boys who played in both tournaments!
