The Chair of the Governors, Mr Darren Johns, was delighted to announce that Mrs Joanna Hubbard has been appointed as the new Executive Head following Mr Doble’s appointment as Chief Executive of the Northwood Schools Group. Joanna will be taking up the post from Easter 2021 and will become the 9th Head of Shrewsbury House School in its 155 year history.
From the impressive field interviewed, Joanna was the unanimous choice of the selection committee. Joanna Hubbard is the current Head at The Rowans in Wimbledon, which is part of the Shrewsbury House School Trust. With 30 years of experience in education, spanning leading independent Senior, Prep and Pre-Prep schools in the UK and internationally, she is perfectly placed to understand a child’s development throughout their school career.
As an experienced ISI Inspector and a Governor of a local Prep School, Joanna has a huge amount to contribute to the development of the curriculum across the 7-13 age group and has worked closely with colleagues across the Trust in recent years to provide support and guidance in developing a high quality, forward-thinking educational experience.
Educated at Lady Eleanor Holles School, she undertook her degree at the University of London before obtaining a postgraduate qualification in special educational needs, and then gaining a distinction in her MA in Education: ‘Leading Innovation and Change’. Joanna is also a former professional sports coach, has led teams to international competitions, and believes that sport can play an important role in developing an individual’s character as well as teaching the benefits of teamwork and perseverance.
Announcing the news, Darren Johns said, “Joanna inherits a thriving, successful and vibrant school from Mr Kevin Doble and I feel strongly that she is the ideal person to lead the future development of Shrewsbury House School, as well as the whole Trust.”
