Gareth Glover, a former Royal Navy Officer, historian and writer of more than 40 volumes on the Napoleonic wars visited the School this week to talk about one of the most famous battles in European History – the Battle of Waterloo.
The talk was very well attended with over 125 boys, parents, staff and even a few Shrewsbury House ex-pupils. They were treated to a detailed and sometimes gory history of this battle, its characters and key turning points with a chance to handle genuine items from the battle; cannon balls, muskets, bayonets and medals. There was an opportunity for the boys to ask Gareth questions and he was very impressed by their interest and enthusiasm.
