Chinese New Year Assembly

The Assembly Hall was wonderfully decorated with Chinese lanterns, red banners and a veritable sea of other red decorations. The boys learnt about the significance of fireworks and lanterns to bring joy and ward off bad luck. Celebratory family feasts include delicious food such as dumplings, fish and rice. Chinese people often clean their homes to symbolise sweeping away bad luck and red envelopes are given as gifts to wish good luck and happiness. For children these envelopes often contain money!
