While most were enjoying a restful half-term, the elite swimmers of SHS were preparing for the IAPS National Swimming Championships which were hosted at the London Aquatics Centre (London Olympics 2012 venue). With seven swimmers competing in six races it was wonderful to take such a large contingent to this prestigious event who had qualified from thousands of contestants across the country. The event was elite standard: double lane judges, big screen updates, twin end touch pads and full spectator grandstands and the boys responded superbly. All relay teams and individual swimmers posted personal bests, improved placings and national standards. Every SHS team member can be super proud of their efforts and performances. A special mention for Declan M – having qualified 6th fastest in the country he went on to win his heat in what was the 3rd fastest time nationally in the 25m breaststroke. Unsurprisingly he qualified for the grand final and was placed an incredible 4th in the country.
