IAPS Regional Hockey Tournament

Very well done to the U13A Hockey team who enjoyed an excellent day at the IAPS Regional Tournament at Eastbourne College. A long journey down was followed by a fast start, initially going 3-0 up against Windlesham House. Two goals were conceded for a nervy late period, but the boys stuck it out for the win.

Tougher opposition to follow in the shape of Bede’s Prep and a loss to the stronger team. The final game of the pool with Cumnor House saw the team bounce back with a 2-1 win. Incredibly this put SHS in a joint three-way tie for first place in the pool.

Goal-difference determined the third place for SHS and a spot in the Plate quarter-final. With the team finding their feet, I am happy to say that SHS defeated Hampshire Collegiate in the quarter-final and St Ronan’s in the semi-final to secure a place in the final.

A brave and determined performance proved not quite enough and the SHS team went down in the last minute to a late winner from Barrow Hills. In every sense a tremendous day and well done to all involved.
