IMAD Charity Visit

The School welcomed Mr Nick Green from the Institute for Music and Indigenous Arts Development (IMAD).

Founded in 2007, IMAD is an NPO operating in disadvantaged areas in and around Cape Town, South Africa. IMAD has two focus areas: first, teaching primary school children to play an instrument (saxophone, trumpet, trombone, keyboards, guitar, bass guitar or drums) and to play in ensembles; and second, providing these youngsters with the opportunity to graduate to the Little Giants Youth Band, to study at the UCT College of Music and elsewhere, and to become successful professional musicians.

Over the years, SHS has been delighted to support IMAD and we have donated instruments to this worthy charity. This time Mr Green was able to collect eight trumpets and seven trombones, which he will have shipped back to Cape Town. Many thanks to Mr Lennon for co-ordinating the donations.
