News from the Sports Department

The elite Year 3 team (U8A) are quickly becoming the team to watch and with the Cranmore trophy already on the shelf they travelled to Danes Hill for tournament number two. Again they proved simply too strong and combative for all-comers – registering fourteen goals and five wins from five matches – well done boys.

Merlin Visitor

It was a pleasure to welcome Violet McConville, Head of The Merlin School, to our school. She met many former pupils and was delighted to catch up with them to find out how they are thriving at Shrewsbury House.

School Council – Charity Support

SHS acknowledge ‘Wear It Pink Day’ in support of cancer research. The School Council invited the boys and staff to wear an item of pink to raise awareness.

SHS Celebrates Black History Month in Assembly

A powerful assembly, beautifully supported by the performances of Training Voices and Pharell A-T who read a moving section from Maya Angelou’s poem, ‘Still I Rise’. The stories of notable  figures were explored such as: John Edmonstone, Walter Tull, Dame Anita Barrow and Simone Biles, the Olympic athlete whose story most resonated with the boys. 

Charity News

Mr Albert and our Head Boy Team had the privilege of meeting Nick from the ‘Make-A-Wish‘ Foundation and were thrilled to present a cheque for £7,535.74! A huge thank you to our wonderful Shrewsbury House community for supporting this incredible charity that grants life-changing wishes to children every day.

Seminar Series

Our Seminar Series Programme for this academic year kicked off with a fascinating and compelling talk on “Deforestation in the Amazon”, delivered by Edward Davey, Head of World Resources Institute, Europe.
