With the Olympics fast approaching, it was timely to reflect on how our SHS values align so closely with the Olympic spirit. Mrs Hubbard recalled her own experiences with the GB rowing squad, and the boys were quickly able to identify that aspiration, respect, perseverance, compassion and integrity are all highly relevant to elite performance. This was brilliantly highlighted by our visitor, Olympian and World Medallist Sam Townsend, who explained to a rapt audience his journey into rowing and the pathway it has led him through. Now Master in Charge of the Radley College Boat Club, we were very grateful that he took time away from the preparation for national competition to inspire our boys; perhaps a future Olympian was in the audience and we will watch with pride as the boys continue to aim high.
