Science Week 2021

The theme for this year’s British Science Week was Innovation for the Future. We celebrated Science Week and the return to school with lots of interactive practical activities in lessons.

Year 3 continued their work on forces and made parachutes to discuss air resistance.
Year 4 learnt about dissolving and in the effect of hailstones.

Year 5 used a Bunsen Burner for the first time and were awarded their official SHS Bunsen burner licenses.

Year 6 observed cells under a microscope and were fascinated by the magnification and clarity of what they discovered.

Year 7 experimented with pressure during their outdoor lesson and discovered pressure within a liquid; learning about the effect of turning moments.

Year 8 constructed electrical circuits.

In assembly we discussed the inventions of the past. The knowledge of the boys on inventions and their inventors was very impressive. The boys were left with the question of ‘what could they invent?’ Well done to all of Year 6 for their participation during the assembly.
