In the penultimate seminar of the series, Year 7 and 8 boys enjoyed a fascinating presentation from Ms Usher on her journey through the world of fencing. As well as handling the equipment and learning some of the more technical aspects of the sport, Ms Usher explained the need to break down barriers in sport and encouraged the boys to ‘look at and be curious about the systems and structures you are part of.’ Thinking beyond assumptions and stereotypes will support inclusivity and the boys clearly understood the role they can play and the impact they might have in the future.
