SHS Celebrate International Women’s’ Day

Last week, with International Women’s’ Day taking place, we turned our thoughts to what a gender equal world might look like. I was delighted to welcome visitors from both Rowan Prep School and Epsom College to our assembly on Monday. Sofya and Luna from Rowan Prep dazzled us with their accomplished and confident piano performances. Kalina, Nyla and Heeta, 6th formers at Epsom College, gave an eloquent and powerful presentation recognising the achievements of women across a range of sectors, as well as highlighting the inequalities which remain, even today.  Using research to highlight inequalities in pay across business, sports and entertainment industries, we were challenged to seek information, notice discrimination and take positive action so that everyone can contribute to our society, no matter their gender.
