SHS celebrate King Charles’ Coronation

In assembly, we learnt more about King Charles’ Coronation. The boys from the Junior, Middle, Senior, Training Voices and SHS Singers, performed an arrangement of Handel’s “Zadok the Priest”. Composed by George Frideric Handel for the Coronation of King George II in 1727, it is one of Handel’s four Coronation Anthems and has been sung at the Coronation of every British monarch since its composition. It will be sung by the choir of Westminster Abbey during Saturday’s service during the King’s anointing. Assembly concluded with a stirring rendition of “God save the King”. We all enjoyed a special coronation lunch at the end of the week and many of the boys shared their plans for street parties and events over the long weekend.  We wish the King and Queen Consort a long and happy reign.
