This week, we focused on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle, with a special emphasis on mental health in recognition of World Mental Health Day on 10th October. Our discussions centred around understanding our thoughts, feelings, moods and behaviours, and we explored various strategies to help regulate emotions, both now and in the future.
One important area we addressed was the value of getting enough sleep. The boys were open about the noticeable impact fatigue has on their well-being. They were particularly interested in learning about circadian rhythms and sleep/wake homeostasis and have committed to reflecting on whether their current bedtime and sleep routines are truly supporting their health. I hope this has sparked helpful conversations at home, and that your son is now heading to bed at a reasonable time!
In addition to these discussions, we were excited to introduce our School Therapy Dog, Raffy, to the newer members of our community. The boys were thrilled to learn that Raffy is a mood-sensing dog, here to offer comfort and companionship. Whether someone needs a cheerful presence or simply a quiet moment, Raffy is here to support us.
