SHS Voices had the privilege of singing evensong for the Feast of Saint Cecilia at The Chapel Royal – Hampton Court Palace, a historic venue where musicians have been making music for over 450 years. Saint Cecilia is the patron saint of music and musicians and appropriately, the choir sang music by two composers who were closely associated with music education. George Dyson, who was Director of Music at Wellington College, Winchester College and the Royal College of Music and Nadia Boulanger, the inspiring woman behind some of the 20th century’s greatest composers. The service was very well attended and the boys certainly rose to the occasion, singing magnificently in such an inspiring setting, imbued with centuries of royal history.
