SHS Voices visit Westminster Abbey

SHS Voices had the exciting opportunity to visit Westminster Abbey last week, taking in some of the fascinating history of the Abbey, including opportunities to see the Coronation Chair, the grave of the Unknown Warrior, the monuments to Sir Isaac Newton’s and Stephen Hawking, along with the magnificent Henry VII Lady Chapel. After this, the boys were able to watch the Abbey choir rehearse for evensong, under the direction of Andrew Nethsingha, Organist and Master of the Choristers.

The SHS boys were especially privileged to be able to sit right next to the choir, for both the rehearsal and the service and so could enjoy a fully immersive experience. Hearing this world-renowned choir (whose boy choristers are the same age as the boys in SHS Voices) rehearse was an incredible opportunity and we hope has inspired our boys as they work in their weekly rehearsals
