Year 6 enjoyed a day’s fieldwork to West Wittering on the Sussex Coast. It was a great opportunity to see the geographical study of coastal landforms, processes and proactive management in action. The boys were introduced to the study area, which included a discussion of spit formation, the impacts of coastal processes and the conflicts which arise from human activity. The expansive dunes and salt marsh formation gave a great opportunity for exploration and a great view of the landforms and East Head’s location. A bi-polar evaluation of coastal defences was completed. A very worthwhile day, which will greatly help the boys understand the dynamic and complex nature of our coastlines.
