We opened up a costume design competition for all of Year 4, asking them to come up with their own design for pantomime dame. We received some wonderful designs which showed how much they had learned about pantomime.
Once the finalists had been chosen, these were then sent to the lead costume designer at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre: Nancy Surman. Nancy loved seeing all of the designs and expressed how impressed she was with their design choices. The winning design was by Tommy G-S. Her feedback was:
“Lovely original hand drawn design. Lots of good detail, and explanatory notes to help the makers. A real pie on the head – always a talking point. Loving the jeopardy! Nice to have her glasses and slippers handy. It is the overall winner for its originality and for capturing the fun and silliness of Panto.”
