The musical talents of the Year 6 boys was the first of our annual series of year group concerts. Through these shared musical experiences, the boys are learning to meet challenges together, building skills that will support their success far beyond the classroom.
Alongside the main performances, the concert featured two electrifying samba drumming performances by all the Year 6 boys, who “raised the roof” with two renditions of Ary Barroso’s iconic Aquarela do Brasil. To inspire the boys to “aim high”, they shared the stage with a skilled professional band, made up of several of our talented visiting music teachers. Originally composed by Barroso on a rainy night in 1939, Aquarela do Brasil went on to gain international acclaim, famously paired by Walt Disney with a Donald Duck cartoon in which the character takes dance lessons, further spreading the song’s joyful rhythm worldwide. Well done boys!
