On a rainy Tuesday evening, the Pinsent Hall was brightened by the talented boys of Year 6 and their Concert. Featuring a wide range of ability and repertoire, the boys took to the stage for some outstanding solo performances. Boasting a varied programme featuring music from Bach and Kreisler to the more modern Tim Minchin and Nirvana, the concert really did have something for everyone.
From piano to singing, strings to brass and everything in between, each of the boys grabbed the opportunity to perform in the Concert with both hands, with every boy performing at some stage in the evening. It was fantastic to see the range of musicianship on show, ranging from those at the start of their musical journey to those more experienced hands by this point. On both levels, the display was impressive. The Concert came to a stunning conclusion with all the Year 6 boys coming together to sing Karl Jenkins’ Adiemus and Lewis Capaldi’s Someone You Loved, led by Mr Thomas at the piano.
The singing in particular proved a real highlight to the evening as the boys showed real commitment and invested gusto in their performances. Many congratulations to all the boys who took part in such a very well-polished evening’s entertainment, which certainly was very exciting considering the high level of their performances and young age.
It was wonderful to see so many families in attendance, especially siblings supporting their brothers. Thank you to all of the parents who continue to support their sons in their musical journeys. Special thanks also to our visiting music teachers Mr Jani, Mr Nugent and Mr Thomas for their support and coaching of the boys; and to Mr Driscoll and Mr Lennon for their technical support.
