Aspiring academic scholars from Year 7 were treated to an inspirational workshop from Head of Scholarship at Charterhouse School, Mr Michael Dawson. Mr Dawson, a linguist who teaches German, French, and Spanish, spoke about the origin of Germanic languages before challenging pupils from 7S to decipher Old Norse, replicating some of the linguistic puzzles often set in scholarship level exams. It was a hugely enjoyable and engaging workshop, which has given much food for thought as 7S continue on their academic scholarship journey.
