Year 7 set off to tour the Houses of Parliament, travelling from Surbiton to Westminster by train and underground. After watching a short film on the history of Parliament, the boys saw a full size projection of the House of Commons and were invited to become Prime Minister, Treasurer, Speaker, Leader of the Opposition and various MPs, which they thoroughly enjoyed. Then on to the tour of Parliament, passing through the Royal Entrance to enter the Lords where the guide told the boys the story of the different rooms and of Parliament itself. The Commons was in Session enabling the boys to experience the working every day feel of Parliament as they passed TV Crews, Clerks, Police and Lords going about Parliamentary business. The tour concluded in Westminster Hall, the oldest part of Parliament and where Queen Elizabeth II had laid in state exactly a year ago.
