Year 8 Trip to Juniper Hall

The boys travelled to Juniper Hall to explore and compare two distinct woodland ecosystems – a coppice and a mature woodland. During the fieldwork, the boys learned essential scientific techniques, including measuring soil depth, estimating the coverage of plant life, and collecting various invertebrate species for identification. Equipped with their new skills, the students worked in small groups, recording data and observing the differences in flora and fauna between the two woodland types. This real-world application of their classroom learning deepened their understanding of how ecological systems function and the delicate balance required to sustain them. A huge well done to Year 8 for their enthusiasm and hard work on what was an enriching and successful field trip!
