Athletics is delivered alongside Cricket in the summer term. The sport forms the foundation for the teaching of Shrewsbury House School’s PE programme throughout the final months of the academic year.
Through this programme, all boys at the school will participate in Athletics, the culmination of which is the final event of the year, the House Sports Day. The sport is further supported by the House Pentathlon event, in which all boys participate. This event sees every pupil, regardless of age or ability, compete in a whole host of run, jump and throw events.
The development of inter-school competition has benefited from additional events and Shrewsbury House School is often successful in securing victories over local opposition. The strongest athletes are supported in Regional and National competition.
Athletics offers sport in its purest form and is of huge benefit to all boys. Mr D Leek is the Master in Charge of Athletics at Shrewsbury House.
This is a first class prep, where academic rigour is balanced by an equally strong offering in arts and sport.Good Schools Guide
