Year 6 Geography Field Trip
1st May, 2026

Year 6 enjoyed a day’s fieldwork at West Wittering on the Sussex Coast. The weather was glorious with barely a cloud in the sky, giving the boys a great opportunity to conduct a geographical study of coastal landforms, processes and proactive management in action. The boys were introduced to the study area, which included a discussion of spit formation, the impacts of coastal processes and the conflicts which arise from human activity. A highlight was exploring the dunes in order to see the saltmarsh and gain a better view of East Head spit and Chichester Harbour. It was a hugely worthwhile and enjoyable day that will help the boys better understand the dynamic and complex nature of our coastlines.
